The DPR Head commented on the railway blockade conducted by the Ukrainian radicals when visiting the commissioning of a new longwall at one of DPR coalmines. Zakharchenko stressed that such a situation caused much more economic losses to the Ukrainian party than to the Republics.
“We will cope with the blockade somehow, but Ukraine won't manage to do this… After a few more weeks of such a blockade Ukraine will forget about heating and energetics in general…” commented the Head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko.
The Head of State emphasized the importance of launching new coalmining facilities in terms of the Republic’s wellbeing:
“We have power plants that will accept this coal gladly. We'll get electric power and provide our homes with it. Our homes will be full of light, warm and comfortable,” he said, having added that common Ukrainians have felt consequences of this blockade already, as “in their homes it was cold, dirty and far from light.”
“We've been living under the blockade for 2,5 years already. And no one is going to die. It doesn’t matter whether there is a blockade or not. They are making it worse for themselves only,” summed up Alexander Zakharchenko and draw the conclusion that sufferings of the Ukrainian people came as a result of “the lack of spirit and true leaders.”
